“My husband is a doctor, and I was always surrounded by couples who were doctors, because of which I was always motivated to pursue my doctorate. I had a Master’s Degree in Computer Application, and I was teaching in college, but I aimed to get the doctorate, with the responsibilities of my two kids.

My husband moved to Abu Dhabi, and I choose to stay back, complete my studies and then move. This was after I delivered my second child. At the time, I was introduced to group fitness classes which motivated me a lot as I am very passionate about my fitness. Thanks to stress, I had hyperthyroid after the delivery of my first child, and I was on medications for almost eight years. My consistency and resilient attitude pushed me to get fit and stop the medication.

“We can do whatever we want once we put our minds and hearts to it.”

After four years of the rollercoaster ride that was my PhD, I moved to Abu Dhabi. Unfortunately, the job opportunities I got out there were not suitable for me, so I couldn’t really start my career. As I was passionate about fitness and I was a part-time instructor, I decided to pursue this full-time. I became a certified group fitness instructor, conducting classes such as Zumba and Strong Nation (HIIT) along with completing my Diploma in Personal Training. I then concentrated on growing, and now I have Pound fitness and kids’ fitness classes added to my portfolio.

Despite my plans, I ended up building my career again in a field that I had never really planned for. I was an assistant professor teaching at a University, but my plan didn’t work out. My focus has always been on using my platform to inspire women and tell them that age is just a number. We can do whatever we want once we put our minds and hearts to it.”
